Ray A. Spaid Jr.

1988 — March 13, 2017

Ray A. Spaid Jr. passed away at the age of 29 on March 13, 2017, in Zion. Ray Jr. was born on April 1st 1988, in Waukegan IL to Ray A. Spaid Sr. and Karen L. Sollenberger. He grew up with one older brother and one younger sister and he spent much of his childhood being with his Grandma Spaid and learning cooking recipes from her. Ray Jr. was a talented young man, he could have worked in any number of fields. When it came to computers and electronics he was naturally gifted and could have chosen this as a career path. He was also knowledgeable in pharmaceuticals, he knew just about any pharmaceutical you could think of and its effects. Cooking was another area where he was very knowledgeable and could have been a chef easily if he wanted too, he was a culinary master. But his passion was health care, where he wanted to help others. Ray Jr. was incredibly passionate and proud of his family. He is survived by his father Ray A. Spaid Sr, mother Karen L. Sollenberger, younger sister Christy Spaid and her husband David Dennison their two boys, Lee Lee and DJ, and an older brother Jason Mattox and his wife Angela Mattox and their two boys, Relius and Grayson. I love cooking for myself and cooking for my friends and family. - Al Roker Ray loves to cook for everyone, he often went over board and cooked way too much food! Please share your favorite memories, stories and photos of Ray A. Spaid Jr. in his guestbook, and share this with those who knew him. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.
