Raymond C. Ekdahl, 69, of Kenosha, WI passed away at his home on October 16, 2015 after a five year courageous battle with prostate cancer.
Raymond was born March 1, 1946 in Chicago, IL. He graduated from Zion-Benton Township High School in 1964 and lived in Beach Park for many years before moving to Kenosha. He married Janice Biere on May 17, 1979 in Reno, NV. Raymond retired from Electrical IBEW Local 150 after 35 years of service. He enjoyed restoring classic Corvettes, he loved to travel, and was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 36 years, Janice; three sons, Gary (Flora) Ekdahl of Mountain Home, ID, and Pierce and Preston Ekdahl, both at home; two grandchildren, Matt King and Grant Ekdahl of Mountain Home, ID; sisters Margaret Sears of Wadsworth, IL, and Barbara Chamblee of Winthrop Harbor, IL; a brother Lenoard (Terri Dorn) Ekdahl of Antioch, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews; with a special thanks to niece Darlene.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roland and Irva Ekdahl; and uncles Roy, Eddie, and Oscar.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Interment will be private for the family.
