Raymond C. "RC" Hoover, 92, of Sun City, AZ, formerly of Zion, IL, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at the Banner Boswell Medical Center in Sun City, AZ.
Raymond was born October 24, 1918, in Moody County, South Dakota, the last surviving child of William and Mary Hoover. He married Gladys Hazel on January 4, 1940, in Franklin, KY. Raymond was a member of the Sun Village Community Church in Surprise, AZ. He was founder and owner of Hoover Well Service in Zion. Raymond served with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater in World War II as a Seabee. He volunteered for 12 years at the V.A. Clinic in Sun City. Also, he was a member the Loyal Order of the Moose #667 in Zion, IL. He loved to fish and hunt. Raymond was industrious throughout his life and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivor include his wife of 71 years, Gladys; three sons, Lonny R. (Barb) Hoover of Urbana, IL, Earl (Ros) Hoover of Libertyville, IL, and Daniel (Pat) Hoover of Broomfield, CO; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; one brother and three sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at 11:00a.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Camp Zion Ministry of Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Dr., Zion, IL 60099.
