Rev. Charles V. Hofflander, 97, passed into the arms of Jesus on June 20 at The Terrace Nursing Home in Waukegan, IL.
He was born on April 8, 1919 to Victor and Ann Hofflander at home in Lake Forest, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Marie of 60 years. He is survived by four sons: Chuck (Mary), Jonathan, Timothy (Cathy) and David (Cary). He is also survived by ten grandchildren: George, Carl, Heidi, Elizabeth, Chelsey, Ashley, Allison, Caroline, McKenna and Alexandra and five great-grandchildren. He also is survived by his sister Vivian Burton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Vincent Hofflander and sisters Caroline Gardiner and Gladys Chapman.
Charles graduated from Lake Forest High School class of 1937. He trained for the ministry at the Oak Park Faith Home, Oak Park, IL. He was drafted into the army in 1943 and served in Okinawa until 1945. He was a graduate of Wheaton College. He married Marie Dilger September 30, 1955 in Waukegan. They moved to Owen, Wisconsin where they were pastors of the Owen Gospel Tabernacle for five years. They moved to Waukegan and Charles taught 6th grade at Spaulding School in Waukegan for several years. He was asked to be pastor of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Waukegan and served for 28 years at which time he retired. He then started Marriage Builders of Lake County which involved many local churches.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25 at 10:00a.m. at Lakeland Evangelical Free Church, 440 N. Hunt Club Rd., Gurnee, IL. Visitation will be at the church on Friday, June 24 from 5:00-8:00p.m. He will be laid to rest at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago, IL.
