Ric. Best, 67, of Zion and formerly of Elgin, IL died May 29, 2016 at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL. Ric. was born June 11, 1948 in Waukegan, IL and graduated from North Chicago High School. He served with the United States Navy for 4 years. Ric. was a realtor for the past 25+ years with Century 21, serving all of the Lake County area. He was also a driving instructor for his family owned driving school business, Best School of Driving. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, was always interested in history, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Survivors include his mother, Delores Best (Erickson); girlfriend of 20 years, Sandy Engberg; children, Jennifer (Brad) Leffler of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Crystal (Gabriel) Ramirez of Zion, IL, and Charo (Jim) Buck of Hamphire, IL; 9 grandchildren, Breanna (Tony), Gabriel, Alexio, Noah, Arielle, Jimmy, Mason, Jake, and Jaxon; 2 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Geni; siblings, Bruce (Naomi) Best, Sue (Jim) Biederer, David Best, Cindi (Ed) Lasiowski, Julie Warczak, Mark (Linda) Best, and Vicki (David) Russell; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William H. Best; and grandparents, George and Vera Best. A visitation will take place Friday, June 3, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m. Burial will take place Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Bluff City Cemetery, 945 Bluff City Blvd., Elgin, IL. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family would be appreciated.
