Richard Batham

Richard M. Batham, 86, of Zion, IL, formally of Beach Park, IL, passed away on August 1, 2008, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan. Richard was born February 26, 1922, in Sevenoaks, Kent, England. He served with the RAF in WWII. Richard worked in business in England before owning/operating a hotel on Marina Cay, in the British Virgin Islands. He came to this area in 1978 and worked as a travel agent. Richard is survived by his loving wife of almost 26 years, Marie; daughters, Mary Batham Elliott of England, Rosemarie (Dr. Alan) Ruedi of Barrington, IL, and Roxanne (Rob) Rissell of Waukegan; grandchildren, Caroline (Julian) Hubbuck, Joanna (Dr. Michael) Aldred, and Duncan (Samantha) Elliott all of England, Jim (Lynessa) Rissell, and Jeff (Terri) Rissell all of Beach Park, IL; and Dr. Elizabeth Ruedi of North Carolina; special great-granddaughters, Catie and Jessica; and brother, Guy Batham of Australia. A Memorial Service is planned for September. Private burial to follow.
