Richard P. “Dick” Crouthers, 83, of Beach Park, IL passed away peacefully on March 17, 2016 at home surrounded by his family and friends. Dick was born on January 8, 1933 in Youngstown, OH. He married Rosemary Davis in 1957. Dick was a member of Community Christian Church in Waukegan, he retired after 38 years from Material Service Corporation of Chicago. Dick’s passion in life was racing and working on cars, he was a member of North Shore Rods, Midwest Gassers, Lake County Derbys, and Great Lakes Dragaway, where he was a Hall of Fame member. Dick is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rosemary; son Richard (Berni) Crouthers; grandchildren Jessica Gross, Weston (Crystal) Gross, Colton Luth, and Rachellyn Luth; one great-grandchild Crash; and his close friends the Tomei family, the Hammock family, the Lorenz family, the Straley family, and the Jones family. He was preceded in death by his mother Alice Crouthers; and a son Bobby Crouthers. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Knight of Community Christian Church, officiating. A luncheon will follow.
