Richard R.N. Tippett, age 63, a resident of Zion, IL, for over 30 years, passed away on Monday, September 10, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Richard was born September 25, 1948, in Toledo, OH, and married Barbara Haight on March 18, 1976, in Waukegan. He served with the United States Navy in Viet Nam. Richard was a retired employee of Commonwealth Edison and following that of the Lake Villa Police Department. Richard was committed to community service and bettering his community. He was currently the Post Commander of the Lake Villa VFW #4308, a member of the F.O.P. and Fleet Reserve. He also was a former co-ordinator of Zion ESDA, an EMT and a volunteer Fireman. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, and motorcycling. He was also a skilled woodworker.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Barbara; children, Timothy (Cindy) Tippett of Kenosha, WI, Charles (Yukiko) Tippett of Noblesville, IN, and Marie Tippett of Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Andrew, Ethan, and Seth Tippett; father, Richard Tippett of Millbury, OH; brother, Ronald (Sally) Tippett of Wauseon, OH; sisters, Carol (Doug) Blasingim of Millbury, OH, and Cindy Tippett of OH; and many nieces and nephews and other family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Tippett; and brother, Steven Tippett.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 16, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment is private for the family, but friends will gather to celebrate his life at the Lake Villa VFW beginning at 2:00pm.
