Rickard B. Gantar, 60, of Waukegan, passed away suddenly on Thurday, November 16, at home.
Rick was born October 6, 1946, in Waukegan. He was a 1964 graduate of Waukegan Township High School and attended Western Illinois University. Rick married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Davis in 1970 in Waukegan. He worked for the Illinois Tollway System for 17 years and was a professional photographer at the Great Lakes Navy Exchange. Rick served proudly in the Viet Nam War with the United States Marines. He leaves behind a loving family and countless friends. Rick also had a passion for Bonsai gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathleen; four children, Amanda Hellickson, Megghan Ruiz, Abigail Gantar and Jordan (Nancy) Gantar, all of Waukegan; seven grandchildren; a sister, Sherril (Bruce) Fulkerson of Zion; a brother, Ronald (Karen) Gantar of Waukegan; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Gantar in 2004 and mother Ruth Gantar in 2006.
A Memorial Service will be held Monday, November 20, 2006 2006 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Wilcox officiating at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment is private for the family.
