Robert “Bob” Barron, a life-long resident of Waukegan, IL, died unexpectedly on December 1, 2018 at the age of 63 in a tragic accident while returning home from a computer class in Waukegan.  He is at home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Bob is survived by his mother Ellen Barron of Waukegan; his sister, Joan (Tim) Glover of Zion, IL; Karen (Larry) Larson of Shawnee, KS, and his brother Ken (Julie) Barron of Largo, FL; his children, Nathan and Amanda Schroeder of WI; and his many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Barron and his brother Daniel Barron both of Waukegan.

Bob was born in Waukegan on December 4, 1954, to Joseph Barron and Ellen Swanson Barron. He graduated from WTHS in June 1974 and promptly enlisted in the US Marine Corps on July 1974 where he proudly served his country until honorably discharged in July 1978.  He was married to Kathleen Ford from August 1975-1980.  They had two children, Nathaniel Lee and Amanda Marie.

Bob was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family.  He was a spiritual man and involved in many church activities, including Choir, Prayer and Bible Study groups. He also enjoyed photography and videography, using his skills to record family events. He attended Lake County Community College taking classes in refrigeration. Recently he began taking computer classes and working at the VA Hospital in North Chicago.

Bob was known for his passion for music and his Swedish heritage.  Following in his Swedish grandfather’s footsteps as both were avid members of the Swedish Glee Club of Lake County.  He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 7 at Christ Community Church in the Lloyd Chapel, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL 60099, Reverend Ken Langley will officiate.
