Robert A. "Bob" Johnson, 86, of Winthrop Harbor, IL passed into the presence of the savior he loved on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Grand Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
He was born in Escanaba, MI on March 26, 1928 to Clayton and Rose (nee Neilsen) Johnson. Robert was called to join the Army in 1952. After his time serving in the army, his various occupations include Outboard Marine, Abbott Laboratories, and Noren Colonial Furniture before landing in general contracting with his son Tim. In the late 1970's, Robert founded Christian Training Center, where he taught the word to cross-denominational groups throughout Lake County, IL area. His passion was serving the Lord by teaching people from all faiths who were hungry for the word. Later, he took his ministry to the Kenosha area, where he attended Journey Church in Pleasant Prairie, WI.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Carolyn "Jean"; his son Tim (Trudi); daughter Linette; grandchildren Daniel Wooten, Rachel (Jason) Pearce, Elise (Luis) Martinez, and Andrew Johson; great-grandchildren Kyle Wooten and Kyson and Cydnie Pearce; and a sister Barbara (Joe) Arreguin.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A celebration of Robert's life and ministry will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Journey Church, 10700 75th Street, Kenosha, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, the funeral service will be held at noon. Interment will be private. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be given to Christian Training Center.
