Robert Dale Lehman Sr. 84, of Zion, IL died November 20, 2017 in Waukegan IL.
Bob was born August 10, 1933 in Zion, IL and graduated from Zion Benton Township High School. He married his high school sweetheart Lila Pitcher on April 11, 1953 in San Diego, CA. Bob was an active member of Christ Community Church. A devoted husband, dad, brother, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. He served in the Korean War and he was a proud Marine Veteran. Bob was a hard worker who worked long hours when the children were young so Lila could stay home with the children. He was self employed for most of his adult life. He loved spending weekends up at "The Cottage" in Wautoma WI where his parents had a place on the lake. He loved to fish. Every summer he gathered up the family to go to Rainy Lake for the annual family vacation where precious memories were made. He organized numerous fishing trips over the years with co-workers, friends and family members. Travel was a priority to him. Bob & Lila made many trips with friends and later on in life, had the privilege to spend some winter months in AZ where their daughter lived. He also loved to shoot guns. He enjoyed time with his brother and grandkids at the shooting range and also out in the desert in Arizona.
Bob is survived by his children, Dale (Suzi) Lehman, Dan (Belisa) Lehman, Dave (Sue) Lehman, and Debi (Greg) Machen; grandchildren, Brad (Kristen) Lehman, Regina (Phil) DeLaurentis, Patrick, Jason, and Kimberly Paulausky, Bethany (Matt) Gainsford, Rebecca (Joel) Christian, Michael and Jesse Lehman, Kyle (Erinne) Lehman, Ryan (Holly) Lehman, and Nick and Marissa Miller; 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Cal Lehman and brother Art Lehman as well as his wife's siblings; Atwood (Beverly) Pitcher, (June) Pitcher, and James (Jeanne) Pitcher.
He was preceded in death by his wife Lila S Lehman and his parents Edmond and Mildred Lehman.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL. Visitation starts at 3:00pm and the service begins at 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Camp Zion would be appreciated.
