Rodney “Joe” Brock, 67, of Zion, IL died on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at home following a long illness.
He was born April 4, 1948 in Zion and lived in this area all of his life. He was a member of Wesley Free Methodist Church of Waukegan, IL. He was employed for 30 years at Illinois Beach State Park, retiring in May of 2005. He was also a Vietnam Veteran having served with the Army and was awarded the Bronze Star for action during the Tet offensive. He enjoyed his motorcycle and playing golf.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years Nancy; children Joshua Aaron (Leland) Brock of CA, and Robin Nicole Spice of Kenosha, WI; five grandchildren Hunter, Caeden, and Abrianna Brock, and Corynn and Owen Spice; and siblings Gerald Edward Brock of Florence, AL, Gloria Jean Wollert of Winthrop Harbor, IL, Timothy Allen Brock of Houston, AL, and Debra Lynn Percival of Round Lake, IL.
He was preceded in death by one sister Mary Mae Thatcher in 2004; and by his parents Edward Brock in 1976 and Virginia Dare Brock in 2015.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2015, at 1:00 p.m., at Wesley Free Methodist Church, 3601 N Lewis Ave, Waukegan, IL 60087 with Pastor George Schleif officiating. Memorial donations in his memory may be made to Wesley Free Methodist Church.
