Rollin R. Brandenburg

Rollin R. Brandenburg, 79, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, formerly of Milwaukee, WI, died on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at home surrounded by his family. Rollin was born December 2, 1935, in Wabasha, MN, and married Elaine Czarapata on April 16, 1958, in West Allis, WI. He retired from the United States Navy after 23 years service as a Senior Chief Engineman serving on submarines and as a Navy diver. Rollin then worked as a Senior Instructor for Westinghouse Nuclear Training Center and was President of Brandenburg (Nuclear) Plant Services. He was a member of US Submarine Veterans Great Lakes Base; Goldwing Road Riders Association Chapter F, and is President of Executive Aircraft Corporation, Kenosha, WI. Rollin and Elaine loved to travel around the country by motorcycle or motor home visiting 48 states. He loved flying his airplane, scuba diving, riding his Goldwing motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. Rollin is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine; children, Brett (Darlene) Brandenburg of Pleasant Prairie, WI, Todd (Cathy) Brandenburg of Clermont, FL, and Kim (Tom) Strathman of Winthrop Harbor, IL; grandchildren, Brett Wayne (Shellia) Brandenburg, Lisa (Tanner) Hatley, Kasha Strathman, Shelby Brandenburg, and Kara Strathman; great-granddaughter, Adalynn Hatley; other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Violet Brandenburg. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. Friends may greet the family at 10:00 a.m., with a memorial service at 12:00 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, IL.
