Roma June Duensing, nee Jensen, 72, of Zion, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at Vista East in Waukegan.
Roma was born on June 29, 1940 in Chicago Heights, Illinois, and graduated from Crete-Monee High School. She came to Zion in 1959, where she worked at Pitcher Agency in Zion, Harris Motors of Winthrop Harbor, and R. Lavin & Sons of North Chicago. Roma was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waukegan. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Roma is survived by her children, Dawn (Mark Waterson), Debra (David) Mason, and Douglas (Becky). Her grand-daughters, Julia and Faith Duensing, were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sisters, Joyce (Rodger) Rauch and LaVerne (Patrick) Haney; brother, George Jensen; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Jensen.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukegan, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Roma's children would like to thank the staff on 4 West at Vista, who lovingly cared for their mother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Building Fund at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1310 Frolic Avenue, Waukegan, Illinois, 60085.
