Ron Wesenberg, 79, of Zion, died peacefully at home on June 17, 2007 with his family by his side.
Ron was born September 4, 1927 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and has lived in Zion for the past 40 years. Ron retired from American Motors in 1989 after 30 years. He was also a Veteran of World War II, having served with the United States Navy aboard the USS Allen M. Sumner in the Pacific. He was a member of the Winthrop Harbor V.F.W. and was a lifetime member of American Legion. For several years Ron served as a Boy Scout leader with Beach Park Troop 68.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Janet; children David (Tammy) Wesenberg of Zion, Bonnie Hafdell of California and Barbara (Dennis) Schnuphase of Utah; grandchildren Stacey (Jason) Houston, Brett (Melissa) Wesenberg, Lisa (Kevin) Murphy, Duane (Jennifer) Hafdell, Christina Farrell and Tawney Farrell; great-grandchildren Logan Houston, Kylie Rae Houston, Baby Wesenberg (on the way), Brett Hafdell, Shania Hafdell, Conner Murphy and Ryan Murphy; siblings Elaine (Donald) Patt and Alan (Arlene) Wesenberg both of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; sister-in-law Charlene Wesenberg; and brother-in-law Richard Sepanski.
He was preceded in death by one son, William; siblings Glen Wesenberg, Lois Sosinski, Raymond Wesenberg and Nancy Veith Sepanski; and his parents George and Clara Wesenberg.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 21, 2007, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. with a private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
