Ronald Roy Johnson, 67, of Beach Park, IL, formerly of Iron River, MI, died on Tuesday, August 22, 2006, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Ron was born March 31, 1939, in Iron River, MI, and was a 1958 graduate of Stambaugh High School, Stambaugh, MI. He married Delores Schultz on September 25, 1965, at St. Cecelia Church, Caspian, MI. He was an active member of Our Lady of Humility Church, Beach Park, and was employed for International Harvester/Dresser/Komatsu in Libertyville from1964-1991 and retired from R. Lavin and Sons in North Chicago in 1999. Ron was an avid golfer at the Shiloh Park District golf course in Zion, and was a loving father and doting grandfather.
Ron is survived by two sons, Patrick Roy (Erika) Johnson, Palatine, IL, and Michael Roy (Jennifer) Johnson of Lake Villa, IL; three grandchildren, JamieNicole Kennedy, Kendall Delores Johnson, and Elizabeth Suzanne Johnson; three sisters, Joanne (Emil) Nathans of Waukegan, IL, Sandy (Bud) Hermanson of Iron River, MI, and Carol(Sam) Castillo of Zion, IL; six sisters-in-law, Clarice Gagnea of Valparaiso, IN, Elvina "Bootsie" (Donald) Toti of Marquette, MI, Betty Lou McArthur of Crystal Falls, MI, Mary Lee (Jim) Baldwin of Iron Mountain, MI, Bonnie (Jim) Baldwin of Iron River, MI, and Cecelia (Murray) Lance of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers-in-law, Irvin A. (Sheila) Schultz of Palatine, IL, and Michael (Sonia) Schultz of Atlanta, GA. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Delores Johnson in 1999; brothers, Rubert and Walter Johnson and sisters, Laura Johnson Koski and Eleanor Johnson Lundquist.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 26, 2006, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Humility Church, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park. Visitation will be Friday, August 25, from 5:00-8:00 p.m, at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment will be Sunday, August 27, 2006, at Stambaugh Cemetery, Stambaugh, MI.
