Ronald Eugene Winston born November 28, 1943 died October 14, 2014 at his home in Zion Illinois. At the time of his death he was living with his grandson Steven Tommassetti. Ronald was the loving father of Sherry Tommassetti (deceased) Ilene Winston of Hoffman Estates Illinois, and Scott (Jackie)Winston of Snoqualmie Washington. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents Booker T. and Mamie Winston, his twin brother Donald E. Winston, Brother Charles Chatman, Sister Shirley Winston, and Sister-In-Law Jonnie Winston. He is survived by his sister Doris Bruner, and his brothers James, Greg and Curtis Winston, grandchildren Steve and Cole Tommassetti, Tyler Acevedo, Zachary, Alexander, and Jack Winston, numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many others who called him Grandpa and Coach.
Ronald was born on Sunday November 28th, 1943 in Chicago Illinois and moved to Zion Illinois where he attended Zion Benton high school graduating in 1962. He attended Wright Jr. College studied accounting and most of his life considered himself an accountant. Ronald was an entrepreneur starting numerous businesses throughout his life. He was married to Rhonda Reisberg in 1964. He lived with his wife and children in Skokie Illinois until 1984. Ronald was a sports junkie that loved tennis, football, and basketball. During his time in Skokie Ronald was actively involved in the community coaching various sports teams including baseball, basketball and eventually Ronald and Rhonda started the Skokie Travelers, a softball traveling league for girls. For a short period of time he moved to Washington State with his longtime companion Mary Davis, returning back to the Chicago area he lived with his daughter Sherry prior to her passing in 2012 and then he lived with his grandson Steven in Zion.
Ronald was extremely loyal had a gift to gab, loved telling stories and could always be counted on to tell people what they needed to know or what their problem was.
The family will be having a visitation Sunday, October 19, 2014, from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
