Ruth Joanne Appenzeller, 82, went peacefully to be with Jesus her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Rolling Hills Manor in Zion.
Ruth, known as Joanne, was born to John and Alice (Hassett) Appenzeller on June 16, 1933. She lived in Zion all her life except when attending school in New York. She graduated from Zion Benton High School, and Elim Bible Institute in Lima, New York, and a computer course at College of Lake County. She worked at Mid America Title Company doing office work.
Joanne attended Zion Faith Homes Church. In early adulthood she lived in the Homes for some years and served as a housekeeper. She was committed to God’s work and always had a song in her heart giving praise to Jesus. She prayed much for God’s blessing on Israel. She faithfully supported missionaries, ministers, and interns as well as many other ministries. She loved animals, traveling, and park district activities. She cared for her Mother in her later years.
Joanne is survived by her brother, Lee (Esther) Appenzeller, sister-in-law, Bertha Appenzeller and nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jack Appenzeller and sister-in-law, Esther.
A memorial service will be held at the Zion Faith Homes, 2820 Eshcol Ave, Zion, on December 28, 2015 at 6:30 p.m.
