Ruth Joan Cole

Ruth Joan Cole, 84, of Zion, IL died on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at her home. She was born June 11, 1931 in Chicago and moved to Zion in 1971. Ruth retired in 2011 after 30 plus years at C.T.C.A. in Zion. She was a member of Zion-Benton Women of the Moose. Ruth was an avid seamstress, enjoyed playing the accordion, was an artist at heart, and she enjoyed caring for others. Survivors include her children Mary Cole of Elgin, IL, Rich (Darlene) Cole of Waukegan, IL, Shirley (Bret) Paden of Collinsville, IL, Linda Plaza of Kenosha, WI, Ruth Cole of Zion, IL, and Dale Cole of Kenosha, WI; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; siblings Melvin (Sandy) Pearson of Stockton, IL, Sonni (Arthur) Monroe of Roselle, IL, Roy (Judith) Pearson of Estancia, NM, and Mary Ann Corey of Round Lake Beach, IL; and also her extended family at C.T.C.A. in Zion. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Cole Sr. on May 29, 2004; two daughters Nancy Janiak and Yvonne Bailey; and her parents Thure and Alice Pearson. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL followed by a funeral service at 12:00 noon. Memorial contributions to Assistance In Healthcare Foundation have been suggested.
