Ruth Hallgren, 84, of Zion, Illinois, died on Thursday, October 29, 2009 at Sheridan Health Care Center in Zion.
Ruth was born December 4, 1924 in Waukegan and lived in Zion most of her life where she was a longtime member of Memorial United Methodist Church. She and her husband, the late Albert Hallgren Sr., were married on October 31, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. Together they were well known in Lake County as Round Dance leaders and instructors.
Survivors include her children, Albert (Linda) Hallgren Jr. of Antioch, Larry (Jenni) Hallgren of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Mickey Hallgren of Winthrop Harbor; one son-in-law, Tom Krakovsky; ten grandchildren, Lawrence Hallgren Jr., Dawn (Ken) Swindle, Patti (Rick) Ouimette, Pam (John) Abbio, Jeffrey Hallgren, Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Jacka, Jennifer Hallgren, Andrew Hallgren, Kimberly (Chad) Wallace and Jeremy (Melissa) Hallgren; fourteen Great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Codi, Cali, Michael, Ryan, Claudia, Tyler, Troy, Aleaha, Courtney, Brittney, Trent, Matteo and Marisa: and one great-great-granddaughter, Annemarie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Hallgren Sr. in 1993; her daughter, Paula Krakovsky in 2005; siblings, Robert Mericle, Richard "Dick" Mericle and Alice Pye; and her parents, Frank and Mildred Mericle.
Visitation will be Tuesday, November 3, 2009, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A cemetery service will be held on Wednesday, November 4th at 10:30 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion, with Rev. Kwadwo Ntim of Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society have been suggested.
