Holtz, Ruth E. 94, of Zion, Illinois, went to be with Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on October 18, 2011. She was born on August 21, 1917 in Detroit, MI. She was a charter member of Christian Trinity Assembly of God in Michigan and served in various capacities there. It was her privilege to train in the Zion Faith Homes for ministry and she was ordained by Elder Brooks in 1946. In 1947 she went as a missionary to South Africa. She worked with Miss Laura Waite at Bethesda Mission; after a few years joined with Miss Faith Christie in evangelistic work; and later developed her own work in South Africa. In 1964, while in America, she married Arthur Holtz and they worked together with Border Mission in Texas and Mexico for five years. In 1969, Art and she returned to the mission work in South Africa. In 1992 they returned to Zion, IL due to ill health. Art passed away in 1994. Ruth faithfully served the Lord in prayer, His Word, worship and testimony and was always ready to talk to others about Jesus.
Ruth is survived by her nieces, Marilyn (Don) Dolecki; nephews: Roger (Barbara) Bortz, Gary and Glenn (Julie) Monroe; grand-nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
Ruth is preceded In death by her husband, Arthur Holtz; parents, Albert and Sarah Wiesler; her stepfather, Jerry Monroe who raised her after her father's death; her sister, Helen (Frank) Bortz; her stepbrother, Jerry Monroe and a niece, Joyce (Ron) Reah.
The funeral service will be held at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11:00. Visitation precedes the service from 9:30 to 11:00.
