Ruth Kidd

Ruth Dorothy Flaherty Kidd (nee Huber), 90, of Victory Lakes Continuing Care Center, Lindenhurst, IL; and formerly of Seminole, FL, and Zion, IL; died on Monday, December 17, 2007, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Ruth was born October 21, 1917, in Chicago, IL, and married William James Flaherty on May 25, 1940, in Chicago. After his passing, she then became betrothed to Robert Vernon Kidd on January 7, 1978, in Pinellas Park, FL. She was a member of Oakhurst United Methodist Church, in Pinellas Park, FL, and a former member of First United Methodist Church, Pinellas Park, FL, and Memorial United Methodist Church, Zion, IL. Ruth was an active singer in many church choirs. She was formerly employed by Zion Industries, Zion-Benton Township High School, and Memorial United Methodist Church in Zion. She is survived by children, William (Susan) Flaherty, Eileen (Everett) Whitmire, Richard (Roberta) Kidd, and Gary (Kari) Kidd; grandchildren, Sean (Justine) Flaherty, Brian (Kristi) Flaherty, Brendan Flaherty, Christopher (Diana) Whitmire, Curt (Amanda) Whitmire, Richele (Donald) Collins, Robert Kidd, Jeffrey (Molly) Kidd, Brian Kidd, Carmen Bills, and Shawn Wyns; great-grandchildren, Samantha Whitmire, Brandon Kidd, Emma Flaherty, Isabella Whitmire, Reagan Collins, Ryan Flaherty, Megan Flaherty, Devin Winkler, Alysa Winkler, Hailey Padilla, Kaijsa Padilla, Justin Bills, and Landon Kidd. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lucy Berthold Huber; her first husband, William Flaherty; second husband, Robert Kidd; daughter-in-law, Nancy Smith Flaherty; brother, George Huber; and sister-in-law, Marie Huber. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2007, from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. David Eikenberry of First Presbyterian Church of Waukegan, officiating. Interment is private for the family. Memorial donations are suggested to the Victory Lakes Residents Council, 1055 Victory Dr., Lindenhurst, IL 60046 or the Lake Villa Rescue Squad, 910 AE Grand Ave, Lake Villa, IL 60046.
