Ruth L. Varner, 85, of Ripon, Wisconsin formerly of Zion, Illinois, died on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Ripon Medical Center.
Ruth was born September 27, 1924 in Kenosha, Wisconsin and lived most of her life in Zion until retiring to Ripon in 1986. She retired as a bank officer from Zion State Bank and Trust Company in Zion. Ruth was an avid reader and always enjoyed a crossword puzzle.
Survivors include her children, Sharon Varner of Green Lake, Wisconsin, Donald L. (Nora) Varner of Beach Park, Illinois, Norman R. (Linda) Varner of Waukegan, Illinois, and Philip L. (Patricia) Varner of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Martha (Kenneth) Learmont of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, D. Lydell Varner in 2000; her father and mother, Arthur and Olga Larsen; and by four brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, July 12, 2010, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Illinois, where a funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Ridge Cemetery, Kenosha, Wisconsin.
