Sally Chumbley (nee Adams), of Zeigler, Illinois and formerly of Beach Park, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at home with her daughter Nancy by her side. She was born October 30, 1929 in North Chicago to Charles and Mary Adams. Sally married her grade school sweetheart, Max Chumbley and were married for 44 years. She was the crossing guard for Beach Park School at Lewis and Beach Road for 25 years. She was also employed for many years at both the United Methodist Church in Waukegan and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Wadsworth. She also enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the Casinos. She is survived by her children, Nancy Cole of Valier, Illinois, Debbie (John) Gustafson of Zion, Dale (Teresa) Chumbley of Salem, Wisconsin and Jeff (Wanda Prichard) Chumbley of Powers Lake, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Crystal Cole of Valier, Illinois, David Gustafson of Beach Park, Bryan Gustafson of Zion and Dawn Chumbley of Kenosha, Wisconsin; two great-grandchildren, Keagan and Miley Cole of Valier, Illinois; one brother, Chuck Adams of Gurnee; three sisters-in-law, Irene Chumbley of Tennessee, Bev Chumbley of Tennessee and Gerry Chumbley of Winthrop Harbor; many nieces and nephews; and all her friends in both Zeigler and Beach Park. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max on December 8, 1990; her sister, Jen O'Dowd; three brothers-in-law, Lee Chumbley, Lenny Chumbley and Rex Chumbley; and two nieces, Diane Kleihauer and Vickie Chumbley. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Interment will follow at Pineview Memorial Park, Beach Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the Congdon Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to either the American Cancer Society, or the American Diabetes Association have been suggested.
