Sandra L. “Sandy” (Ames) Steffenhagen, 77, of Lindehurst, IL went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, IL. She was born January 30, 1945 in Waukegan, IL.
Sandra raised three children in Gurnee, IL. Sandra was a licensed beautician and graduated from College of Lake County in 1989 with honors and an Associates Degree of Business. She was also a seamstress and enjoyed making beautiful Halloween costumes for her children. She took quilting classes and made many quilts for her loved ones. Sandra was also a baker, with a passion like hers no one could top her cakes. Some of her cakes even had fountains for special occasions. Baking birthday cakes for her children every year and especially her grandchildren. Every skill Sandra learned, she utilized to make sure it impacted those around her. She spent a lot of time on Ancestry.com learning everything she could about her family tree. Sandra was not only a very gifted woman, but a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend.

Sandra is survived by her children, Robert Steffenhagen Jr and Jacquelyn Steffenhagen; six grandchildren, Jessica Radu, Davis Kennedy, Theresa Kennedy, Nicole Steffenhagen, Justin Kennedy, and Ashlie Steffenhagen; nine great grandchildren, Brian, Travis, Madilyn, Alexandru, Amelia, Rowan, Dawson, Callan, and Rylan; siblings, Larry, Gloria, Glen (Linda), Roderick, Kenneth, William, and Steven (Kathie).
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert Steffenhagen; son, Brian Steffenhagen; parents, Mortimer and Ethel Ames; and sisters, Linda Magnuson and Joyce Ames.
Services will be private for family. A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
