Scott David Copen

Scott David Copen, affectionately known as "Zippy," passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 58. Born on May 27, 1966, in Waukegan, Illinois, Scott spent his life in the Zion area.

A master carpenter by trade, Scott was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and unwavering dedication to his work. He poured his heart into every project, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of working alongside him.

Scott's true passion lay in the great outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, and biking, often spending weekends searching the woods for deer antlers. These outdoor adventures brought him immense joy, offering him a peaceful escape and a chance to connect with nature.

Above all, Scott loved nothing more than his two boys, Toby and Tyler Copen. He was a devoted father who cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them the values of hard work, perseverance, and a love for the outdoors. Scott was also stepfather to Steven and Timmy Anderson and April, Kayla and Shelby Chapman.

Scott is survived by his sons, Toby Copen (Makennah); Tyler Copen (Makenzie), brother James Copen Jr (Linda), sister Lori Ryan (John), grandchildren Cohen, Kya, Logan and Fiona, and many nieces, nephews and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia Copen, and baby sister.

Scott gained his wings alongside his sister, Gina Copen and niece, Cristal Copen.

Friends and family will meet for a visitation on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00 at The Well Church, 9001 17th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53143. A memorial service to celebrate his life will begin at 2:00. Scott leaves behind a legacy of love, passion, and craftsmanship that will be remembered by all who knew him. His spirit will forever live on in the memories of his family and friends.
