Shirlee M. Evoy, 83, of Waukegan, IL, died on Saturday, January 16, 2016, suddenly at her home.
Shirlee was born July 6, 1932, in Waukegan, and graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1949. She married her late husband, James Evoy, on August 29, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan where she was also a long time member. Shirlee was a life member of the Waukegan Yacht Club and also served as bookkeeper for over 30 years. She was a past member of the Waukegan Jaycees and the Illinois Children’s Home and Aid Society. Shirlee enjoyed boating, golf, bowling, bridge club, and loved to travel. Nothing pleased Shirlee more than celebrating special occasions with family and friends.
Shirlee is survived by her children Janice (Gregory) Snelten of Woodstock, IL, Debbi (Tom) Bosworth of Elmhurst, IL, and Kathleen (Dr. Bernard) Gradoville of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Shannon (Gary) Talaga, Andrew and Bradley Bosworth, and Jack and Anne Gradoville; great-grandchildren Damian and Caitlyn; brother Robert (Dorothy) Rundquist of MS; and sister-in-law Barbara Rundquist.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Evoy; her parents Edward and Mabel Rundquist; and her brother Ralph Rundquist.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 22, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 128 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Waukegan. Interment will follow at Northshore Garden of Memories, North Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save-A-Pet Grayslake, IL or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org).
