Stephen A, "Steve" Swift, 51, of Zion, IL, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 6, 2011, with his family by his side.
Steve was born March 20, 1960, in Bay City, MI, and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He married Tammy Zarlengo on August 12, 1978, in Bay City, MI, and was her faithful husband to the end. His first son, Stephen was born in 1979. The family then moved to Illinois in 1982. Carrie, the second child was born in 1992. He worked for Commonwealth Edison for 17 years and was self-employed for the last eight years. Steve was a current member of Trinity Christian Church in Zion and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Winthrop Harbor and loved assisting with sound and music at both churches. He loved to watch baseball and football. Steve played softball for years. Steve was a dedicated family man and he did everything he could to be at every activity for his kids and grand kids. He loved music and rocking out with his son and daughter. Steve was a very inspiring, compassionate, and supporting man. Steve will be missed by all who were blessed to be part of his life. We all loved you so much Dad! See you in heaven.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy ; children, Stephen (Rebecca) Swift of Kenosha, WI, and Carrie Swift of Racine, WI; mother, Bethany (Grandma Bunny) Swift of FL; best friend and brother, Mike (Debra) Swift of Augusta, GA; sister, Susan (Jeff) Sandridge of Friendswood, TX; grandchildren, Tyrus and Melody Swift; nieces, Samantha and Frances Sandridge and Christina Swift; and other family. Steve adored his family and especially his two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Swift; niece, Stephanie Swift; grand parents, Arthur and Kathryn Storrs.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tony Zarlengo and Carrie Zarlengo.
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at 12:00p.m at Trinity Christian Center, 2600 Lewis Ave., Zion, IL. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.
