Steve Kennedy, 52, of Winthrop Harbor, IL, died suddenly on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at his home. He was born July 11, 1956 in Waukegan.
Steve attended church at The Well Ministries in Winthrop Harbor. He was a Firefighter all of his life, including serving as a volunteer for Winthrop Harbor Fire Dept., was a paramedic for Winthrop Harbor Rescue Dept., was a paramedic for Zion Rescue Dept., was a Fireman, working his way up to Captain and Acting Chief for Ft. Sheridan Fire Dept., and concluded his career at Great Lakes Fire Dept. in 2001.
Survivors include his fiancée, Brenda Alexander; daughters, Kristina Kennedy and Hannah Kennedy, both of Zion; two grandchildren, Kayla Kennedy and Shaynna Strait; four sisters, Geraldine Gray of Zion, Terry Kennedy of Winthrop Harbor, Sherry Kennedy of Winthrop Harbor and Mary (Jerry) Powles of Dongola, IL; and his ex-wife, Penny (Larry) Erickson of Zion.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Gerald Kennedy and Grace Townsend Kennedy.
Visitation will be Monday, September 29, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 30th, at 10:00 a.m., at the Congdon Funeral Home with Pastor Daniel Stanford of The Well Ministries in Winthrop Harbor officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
