Steven Wayne Lucus, 56, of Beach Park, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 15, 2016. Steven was born to Galen & Evelyn (Stevenson) Lucus on May 26, 1959 in Waukegan, IL and was raised in Zion, IL. He attended West School, Central Jr. High and Zion Benton Township High School. In his adolescent years, Steven attended Zion Bible Church, Grace Missionary and Lakeview Church, all in Zion. He later attended Christ Community Church where he was baptized in 2010.
Steven grew up working in the family business; Wadsworth Feed & Saddlery, in Wadsworth, IL started by his grandfather Wayne P. Lucus in 1939, and continued into adulthood. He met and made many lifelong friends along the way which he loved dearly, and would talk about for hours on end. He really loved the feed store and never missed an opportunity to tell everyone about it. He eventually left and began working for Uline in Lake Bluff, IL, in addition to working for the other family business, Happyland Pet Center, in Wadsworth, where he worked for many years forging countless friendships, always telling them first and foremost about the feed store. He later went to work for Sam’s Club in Gurnee, IL prior to taking disability.
He truly enjoyed the outdoors. Having barbeques, bonfires, going to the beach, listening to Rock N Roll music, especially Jimi Hendrix and conversation were some of his utmost favorite pastimes. Steven loved animals, and especially his feline friends, Abby & Mia. Playing the drums was his ultimate passion, and he would play for hours. Sharing his passion with others gave him great joy. He was a fantastic drummer and taught his son, brother-in-law and some of his closest friends how to play.
Steven will always be remembered for his tremendous love of music and kind heart.
Steven married Debra Lynn (nee Grubbs) in 1983 at the Spirit of Life Church in Zion, and they had (3) children prior to their divorce in 2011.
Steven simply adored his children and was a wonderful father. He was so very proud of them and they loved him unconditionally. He would peruse the Hallmark store for hours searching for just the right card for each of them. Often, asking patrons their thoughts on the message he was trying to convey.
Steven is survived by his children, Sean Michael Wayne Lucus of Beach Park, IL, Samantha Danielle (David) Hill of Kenosha, WI, and Brooke Nicolette Lucus of Zion, IL; His father Galen Cleave Lucus of Edgerton, WI; Brother, John Galen Lucus of Zion, IL; Sister, Linda Jean Rebiger (Steven) of Edgerton, WI, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great-nieces and nephews.
