Sue Steele, 79, died at home with her family by her side on Friday, September 17, 2010.
She was born in Sugar Tree, Tennessee. She was a resident of Lake County since early adulthood. She was a former employee of Fansteel. Later, she owned her own hair salon until she retired. She lived with her daughter Janice for the last 12 years and attended Christ Community Church since that time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, all her siblings, her husband Hobart Steele, and a grandson David Steele.
She is survived by her two daughters, Vikki Steele and Janice (Ken) Albrecht; her son, Kent Steele; her grandchildren Clifford Albrecht, Ruth (Steve) Quirke, Andy Albrecht and Luke Albrecht; her great-granddaughter Lexi Steele; and many nieces and nephews.
A special time in Sue's life was participating for the last 11 years in the Daybreak program of Bristol, Wisconsin. She always looked forward to going to Daybreak because it enhanced the quality of her life, giving her friendships, dignity and personal growth. Daybreak specializes in social activity programs in a supervised, intimate group setting for adult in the early to middle stages of Alzheimer's Disease or related memory loss and offers assistance and respite for caregivers. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, Illinois, Pastor Ken Langley officiating. Visitation will be held at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
