Taimi S. Keinanen, 96, of Grayslake, IL, formerly of Zion and Gurnee, died on Saturday, October 24, 2015, at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Taimi was born August 7, 1919, in Finland. She was a talented florist in Finland before she moved to the United States. She was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukegan. The most important aspect of her life was her faith in Jesus, she prayed daily and found strength in her faith, she greatly looked forward to Sunday morning church television shows after her health kept her from attending church services. Taimi was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, and was gifted at cooking and baking. She loved flowers and had fun playing bingo.
Taimi is survived her children, Eija Tudtud of Gurnee, IL, and Eila Kuusoja and Elisa Juvonen, both of Finland; and brother-in-law, Jack Ylitalo of Gurnee, IL. Also surviving are seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; one sister, and other family members in Finland.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elina Ylitalo and two brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3350 Delany Rd. Waukegan, IL, followed by a funeral service which will begin at noon, Pastor Jeffrey Koth, officiating. Memorial donations to St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church have been suggested.
