Theodore Otterbacher

Theodore H. "Ted" Otterbacher, 79, of Beach Park, Illinois, died on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at Arbor View Nursing Home in Zion. Ted was born May 16, 1929 in Zion. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Air Force in England. He was a life-time member of Christ Community Church of Zion, where he had served on the Church Board and was an Usher for many years. Ted retired in 1991 from Midway Heating & Supply as Vice President of sales and marketing after having worked there for 30 years. He was a member of the Zion-Benton American Legion, had served on the Beach Park Village Planning Committee, was a Trustee for both the Village of Beach Park and the Beach Park Fire Department and he served as a Trustee for the Lake County Water District. Ted enjoyed antiquing, boating and fishing in his spare time. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marcia; children Eric (Pat) Otterbacher of Midland, Michigan, Evan (Linda) Otterbacher of Franklin, Wisconsin, Josie (Greg) Lawrence of New Haven, Indiana, Greg (Laura) Otterbacher of Beach Park, and Bruce Otterbacher of Waukegan; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister Thyrza Otterbacher of Valparaiso, Indiana. He was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Katelin Lawrence; one brother, Rupert Otterbacher; and his parents, Theodore J. and Marjorie Otterbacher. Visitation, will be Tuesday, June 3, 2008, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Community Church with Pastor Jon Wiziarde officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to either Camp Zion, or, Christian Catholic Church Missionary Foundation, have been suggested.
