Thomas I. Ring, 68, of Zion, IL died peacefully on Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home.
He was born October 19, 1944 in Chicago, IL, was raised in Franklin Park where he graduated from Leyden West High School in 1962. Thomas then entered the United States Air Force and served honorably for four years. He worked as a salesman for R.J. Reynolds for 18 years and at Motorola in Libertyville for 14 years, retiring in 2002 as a distribution supervisor. Following retirement he proudly served as a volunteer for the Zion Police Department, something he loved doing.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Pauline; children Laura (John) Teofilo of Iron Mountain, MI, Jerome (Denise Levey) Ring of McHenry, IL, and Michael (Kim) Ring of Rockford, IL; grandchildren Brittany Ring, Justin Ring, Carissa Ring, Christian Ring, Lindsay Teofilo, Ashley (David Muller Jr.) Ring, Victor Levey, and Hannah Levey; one great-grandchild David Muller III; siblings Judy Salutric of Northlake, IL, Jeanne (Mike) Erbach of Schaumburg, IL, and Jim (Shirley) Ring of Huntley, IL; and one sister-in-law Pat Ring of Aurora, IL.
He was preceded in death by one brother Don Ring; one brother-in-law Tom Salutric; and his parents Chester and Esther Ring.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with private cremation to follow. Memorial donations to Zion Police Officers Benevolent Association have been suggested.
