Tommy Kenneth Stewart of Waukegan, IL, entered into his eternal home on October 30, 2015.
He was born January 8, 1931, in Memphis, Tennessee. Tom received his Master’s Degree from the University of Mississippi and a Master’s Degree from Southeastern Bible College and served in the Army in the Counter Intelligence Corps during the Korean War. For sixty-two years he was married to the love of his life, Jean Stewart. He was an educator at Nebraska Christian High School and served as Director of Records at Calvary Bible College in Kansas City and Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois. After retirement Tom and his wife served the Lord in East Asia on short term mission trips. Tom will be remembered and greatly missed as a prayer warrior and as a man who shared Scripture with all those that he met.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; his children Donna Christian, Laura (Harry) Smith, Tom (Joyce) Stewart Jr., and Mary (Chris) Brooks; his grandchildren Justin and Joel (Rebecca) Christian, Brian and Kevin Creighton, Tyler and Cassidy Brooks, Brett Stewart, Seth and Eliana Smith; and great grand-children Flurry and Lowenna Christian. He is also survived by his brother, Harry Stewart; sister, Shirli (Sam) Lowry; sister-in-law, Kaye Martin; and many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ronald Stewart; a brother-in-law, Charlie Martin; and a sister-in-law, Jane Stewart.
Visitation will be Monday, November 2, 2015 at Immanuel Church, 2300 N Dilleys Rd, Gurnee, IL, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service with military honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Tom’s memory to Overseas Missionary Fellowship, Immanuel Church, and Gideons International. A family burial will take place in Dorsey, Mississippi at a later date.
