Vernon Jacob Krapf

Vernon Jacob Krapf, 95, of Beach Park, Illinois died at home on Monday, February 2, 2015. He was born November 2, 1919 in Green Garden Township, Illinois and came to Zion, Illinois with his family when he was two years old. He attended school in Zion and served in the U.S. Army during WW Il as a Staff Sargent in the Pacific Theater. He worked for his brother, Milburn, for many years and then for American Motors until he retired. He was a member of the Christian Catholic Church in Zion. Vern married Carol Hosken Edwards on August 21, 1948 and they had been married 64 years until her death in 2013. His dear granddaughter, Erin Jensen, moved in with him and gave him her love and care these last two years. Survivors include his daughters Susan (Donald) Jensen of Beach Park, Illinois and Pamela Congdon of Colorado Springs, Colorado; son-in-law Will Young of Beach Park, Illinois; grandchildren Stephen (Brenda) Haskell, Nichole (Tim) Davis, Melanie (Rudy) Imbrogno, Ardsley (J'Lynn) Congdon Jr., Anjanette (Stephen Cox) Taylor, Erin Jensen, Brent Jensen and Dane Jensen; seven great grandchildren; his sister Elaine Hough of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and sister-in-law Peg Kraft of Boulder, CO as well as many nieces and nephews. Vern was preceded in death by his wife Carol, daughter Lana Young, son-in-law Ardsley Congdon and grandson Michael Vernon Young; parents Jacob and Lena Krapf, brothers Milburn (Eleanor) Krapf, Raymond (Nedra) Krapf, Leburn (Bernice) Krapf and Emerson (Mae) Krapf; sisters Cynthia (Arthur) Capp, Mabel (Jack) Perilot; brothers-in-law Don Hough, and Edward (Jackie) Hosken, sister-in-law Doris (Del) Wright, nephew Adam Mullen and great-nephew Mark Mullen. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church in the Chapel, 2300 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, IL with Pastor Ken Langley, officiating.
