Victor W. Geib, 92, of Zion, IL passed away September 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Victor was born January 4, 1926 in Le Sueur County, MN to Peter and Emma Geib. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1943-1946 on the USS Attu. On August 31, 1946, he married the love of his life, Marian Benedict in Chicago, IL. Victor graduated from Moler Barber College in 1962 before opening Vic’s Barber Shop in Waukegan. He grew apple trees in Zion and had a huge vegetable garden in Antioch. He was a true farmer generously sharing his fruits and vegetables with his friends and neighbors. Victor also loved raising his horses Minnie and Flicka. He was a friend to everyone that knew him, was unwavering in his faith and lead many people to Jesus. He truly “walked the talk”.
Victor is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Marian; sons, Victor K (Donna) Geib and Richard V. (Deborah) Geib; 7 grandchildren, Victor Bryan (Tina) Geib, Rebecca (Todd) Lindley, Rachel (Brian Popp) Geib, John W. (Beth) Geib, Richard M. (Megan) Geib and Hannah Geib; and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan; and brothers, Kenny and Clarence.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, IL 60099. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago,IL.
