Vivian "Bub" Woodman, 91, of Zion, died on Friday, August 17, 2007 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan, Illinois.
"Bub" was born May 28, 1916 in Chicago and moved to Zion at an early age. She graduated from Zion Preparatory College in 1934 and Lake College of Commerce in 1936. She married Paul Woodman in Zion on June 9, 1938. She was an active long time member of Christian Catholic Church (now Christ Community Church) of Zion. She retired in 1987 after 27 years with Zion School District food service. She belonged to Zion Fire Belles, Zion Grade School Band Boosters, Zion-Benton Township High School Athletic Boosters, Zion Historical Society, Zion Genealogical Society and in 1982 she was honored as the recipient of the City of Zion "Mother Of The Year" award.
Survivors include her children Jack (Kathy) Woodman of Littleton, Colorado, Regena Stranberg of Racine, Wisconsin, Jayne (Steve) Amerighi of Winthrop Harbor and Susan (Joe) Buttera of Beach Park; grandchildren Beth (Mark) Stutz, Sara (Ken) Kroneberger, Becky Woodman, Bill Stranberg, Valerie (Brian) Turner, Tara (Billy) Morley, Ryan (April Barnett) Amerighi, Michelle Boyd and Jeff (Pam) Buttera; ten great-grandchildren Erin, Molly, Caitlin, Nathan, Will, Brenna, Reese, Justin, Joe and Andrew; and sisters Charlotte Gill of Lake Delton, Wisconsin, Dorothy (Rev. Earl) Minton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mona (Roger) Luther of Beach Park and Myra (Peter) Sammy of San Carlos, California.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul in 1994; parents George and Maie Ballegooyen; her father Richard Johnson; and one brother David Ballegooyen.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 22, 2007, from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 2500 Dowie Memorial Drive, Zion, with Pastor Jon Wiziarde and Rev. Earl Minton officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to either Christ Community Church for Missions, or, Phom School Project in India (make checks to: ACI International) have been suggested.
