Walter Bruton

Walter Robert "Bob" Bruton Sr., of Winthrop Harbor, IL, formerly of Canton, OH, at his home among family, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at the age of 79. Bob was born August 1, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, and married the love of his life, Vivian Archinal, on December 31, 1951. In January of 1952, Bob joined the United States Marine Corps and attained the rank of Sargeant before being Honorably discharged in January of 1954. After working for employers including Sears and Fansteel, Bob retired from a Supervisory position at Six Flags Great America in 1998 after 23 years of service. A former Trustee and AWANA clubs leader at Bonnie Brook Baptist Church, Bob was a member of Lakeview Church in Zion where he served as AWANA leader, Trustee, and Deacon. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of over 60 years, Vivian; his brothers, John (Linda) Harmeyer of Beach Park, IL, Douglas (Robin) Bruton of Mableton, GA, and William (Delores) Harmeyer of Hudson, FL; sister, Sharon Kingston of Smyrna, GA; children Donald (MaryAnn) Bruton of Darien, IL, Elizabeth (Ralph) Jensen of Waukegan, IL, and Walter (Sandra) Bruton Jr. of Mesa, Az; grandchildren Debra, Robert, Bryce, Colleen, Alyssa, and Lora; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Adrian, Houston, Emily, and Judah; as well as nieces, nephews, and grand-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Bruton and Mary Harmeyer. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at Lakeview Church, 1821 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with Pastor Les Martin, officiating. Friends may greet the family at the church on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. A procession will leave the church on Monday, May 7, at 10:00 a.m. for interment at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to Lakeview Church or STAR Hospice.
