Wanda "Wannie" Wasion, 80, of Kenosha, WI, died on Thursday, September 17, 2009, at home, surrounded by her family.
Wanda was born July 12, 1929, in Pekin, IL, and married John Wasion on May 5, 1947, in Zion, IL. She attended Cornerstone Community Church in Wadsworth, IL. Wanda was formerly employed in theater management with the Genesee Theater in Waukegan, the former Academy Theater in Waukegan, and the Deerpath Theater in Lake Forest. After retirement she worked as a private duty caregiver. Wanda was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Survivors include 5 children, Terri Hicks of Lanark, IL; Don (Jean) Wasion, Ron (Mary) Wasion, Pam (Randal) Holman, all of Kenosha, WI, and Johnny (Sue) Wasion of Pleasant Prairie, WI; 25 grandchildren; 52 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters, Etta Sidell and Mary Mahr , both of Pekin, IL;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Wasion III in 1994; grandchildren, Jodi Hicks and Ronald Wasion II; brother, Melvin Mahr; and son-in-law, Robert Hicks.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 21, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Community Church, 40413 N. Delany Rd., Wadsworth, IL 60083 Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Friends may greet the family on Monday from 12:00 p.m until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Hospice Alliance of Kenosha, 10220 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI, or the American Cancer Society.
