Warren H. Tjader, 83, of Winthrop Harbor, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at home, surrounded by his family.
Warren was born August 5, 1926 in Chicago, IL, moving to the Winthrop Harbor area when he was a young adult, and living there the remainder of his life. Warren married his loving wife Ingrid Bentley on November 28, 1959, in Zion, IL. He attended North Prairie United Methodist Church. Warren served with the United States Army. He was a carpenter, building homes and remodeling in the area for nearly 50 years. Warren took great pride in his craftsmanship; a skill passed down from his grandfather, to his father and then to his own sons. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and the outdoors, but he most enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, who meant so much to him.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ingrid; daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Kinnavy of Winthrop Harbor; sons, Eric Tjader of Winthrop Harbor and Steven (Lauren) Tjader of Zion; grandchildren, Lindsey Mallek (Fiancée Kelly FitzMaurice), Ryan Mallek, and Chase and Cameron Tjader; sisters, Dorothy Stofferahn of Kenosha, WI, Jean (Robert) Johnson of Winthrop Harbor, and Janet (Dean) Wilson of Antioch; brothers, Donald (Violet) Tjader of Winthrop Harbor and David Tjader of Zion; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He has joined his parents, William and Jennie Tjader, brother Richard Tjader, and brother-in-law Norm Stofferahn, in Glory.
Visitation will be Monday, April 5, 2010, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at North Prairie United Methodist Church, 9th St. & Kenosha Rd., Zion, with Rev. Ron Greene, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations are suggested to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, attn: Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, P.O.
