Wayne Koffs, 83, of Zion, IL passed away January 3, 2023 at home. He was born on July 20, 1939 in Kenosha, WI.
Wayne was a long time member of Christ Community Church in Zion, IL where he married his wife Mary Koffs there December 6, 1975. Wayne was employed at Country Squire in Grayslake, and Old Elm Country Club in Highland Park. Wayne was also a member of VFW post 1865 in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Wayne served in the United States Marine Corps for over 11 years. He was a proud veteran. Wayne was an avid bird watcher. He also enjoyed spending time with his numerous pets, and having fine cuisine prepared for him by his wife Mary.
Through 47 years of marriage, Wayne spent most of that time living on the Richards Family Farmstead. Wayne was embraced into the Richards family and was one of them throughout the years.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Mary Koffs (nee’ Richards); sister, Judy Hahn of Scottsdale, Arizona; nieces and nephews and his extensive Richards family relatives.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, Il from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park in Zion, IL. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Lake County Honor flight would be appreciated, please visit
