It is with our deepest sympathy that we inform you of the passing of William “Bill” Brian Anderson who died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family at Advocate Condell Hospital on January 7th. Mr. Anderson was born in Waukegan, IL and would have celebrated his 57th birthday on July 22nd, 2016.
Growing up in Zion, William graduated from Zion Benton Township High School in 1977 and Gateway Technical College in 1978 with a certificate in Automotive Repair. Many people may remember him as an employee of NAPA Auto Store in Zion where he met and married the love of his life, Jean Mary Anderson (Krempely), when she stopped by the store to buy oil for her car and he asked her out on a date. The two were married on August 6th, 1983 and have stayed together for 32 wondrous years.
William then went on to work as a machine operator for Abbott Laboratories for 19 years and then 10 more years as a machine assembler and quality assurance technician at Buehler Inc. in Lake Bluff, IL. He had a passion for reading, cooking, and gardening. He loved spending time with his family and was known as a friend to everyone and a good listener to many more.
He is survived by his loving wife, his children Sarah Anderson Pasquesi (Paul), Neal Anderson, Lucas Anderson, and Nicholas Anderson, his three grandchildren Ilessa, Naomi and Elyanna, his devoted step-father Arthur Strawmatt, his sisters Judith Anderson Philyaw, Barbara Anderson Opal, and Sue Anderson Hendricks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silas Alexander Anderson and Rose Joy Aiuppy Anderson.
The wake will take place Tuesday, January 12th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL. The funeral will be Wednesday, January 13th at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Humility, 10655 W. Wadsworth Rd., Beach Park, IL. Immediately following the mass will be a procession to Ascension Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest. The family asks that you honor William’s life with at least one true act of kindness.
