William E. Carner

William E. Carner,90, of Beach Park, IL passed away on March 15, 2023 in Libertyville, IL. He was born on September 11, 1932 in Augusta, KS the son of William Wesley and Hattie Bonnie (Cody) Carner. William graduated from Augusta High School, and married Mary Louise Buttner on March 12, 1955 in Yuma, AZ.

He served in the Navy from 1952 - 1955 and was on the USS Buck (DD761) serving during the Korean War. He was on their boxing team and it was said he was a really good boxer.  His grandchildren say "Grandpa has fists like bricks." He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic and enjoyed being a greeter at Home Depot once retired.

William is survived by his loving care giver, Viola Poe of eleven years; children, Wes (Marge) Carner, Liz (Kevin) Wibright, Donna Carner, Joyce (Ron) Campbell, Billy Carner, Stephen Krueger; grandchildren, Jessica (John) Koltz, Tina Kelly, Wes (Karin) Carner, Jenny (Pat) Kronenberger, Nathan (Kendrah) Campbell, Nick Campbell, Shannon Wibright, Tyler Wibright, Larin Nickell, Redlin William Krueger, Nathanial Robert Krueger; great-grandchildren, Jacob Koltz, Kaitlynn Koltz, Kaylene Kelly, Wyatt Kronenberger, Trever Kronenberger, Cody Kronenberger, Andra Carner, Will Carner, Teagan Campbell, Tanner Campbell; sister Bonnie Furgason; nieces and nephews, Avis Nelson, Joy Irving, Holly (Rusty) Parylak, Jerry (Patty) Mayes, Debra Mayes Page, Mark Mayes, Kristal (Michael) Vaughan, Darryl (Cheryl) Carner, Kevin(Susie) Lee, Shawn (Chris)Moxley; cousins, Mary (Bruch)Chisman, Irvin Cody; many great-nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years Mary Louise; great-grandson Gusty Kronenberger; parents William, and Hattie Carner; sisters, Barbara Nelson, Janice Lee; nephews,

Larry Mayes, Randy Nelson; cousins, Acy Bill Cody; Uncle, Lee Cody.

Memorial visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 5:00 followed by a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd. Zion, IL 60099. Burial will be private at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL.
