William R. (Bill) Heiney, 60, of Beach Park, IL went to be with the Lord after his battle with cancer on March 13th, 2016.
Bill was born on August 23rd, 1955, in Cheyenne, WY. He spent most of his young life in Fort Collins, CO and graduated from Poudre High School. Upon graduation, Bill enlisted in the U.S Navy and served 20+ years. He retired as a Chief Machinist Mate in 1997. After his military service, Bill worked as an Inside Service Representative for Scotsman Ice in Vernon Hills, IL. Bill was active member of Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church in Zion, IL and a member of The Knights of Columbus. He is remembered for his infectious sense of humor, wonder and appreciation for the outdoors, love of inventing, passion for his family and friends, and unwavering faith. Bill met and married Jeannette L. Longtin of Lake Villa, IL on June 20th, 1981.
He is survived by his wife, Jeannette L. (nee Longtin) Heiney, three children, Timothy A. Heiney (Steffi), Selene R. (nee Heiney) (Frank) Ruffalo, and Sarah L. Heiney, as well as two granddaughters, Gabriella P. Ruffalo and Ellianna M. Ruffalo. Bill is also survived by James M. (Karen d. 2014) Heiney, Joseph P. (Cathy) Heiney, Thomas J. (Beth) Heiney, Marie T. (Terry) Duty, Katrina A. (Paul) Poplett, Matthew D. (Laura) Heiney, Anthony C. (Tamara Wagner) Heiney, as well as two godchildren and many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth A. (nee Fahl) and William T. Heiney, sister-in-law Karen (nee Converse) Heiney, and nieces Angie Harmon and Jacquelynn Savage.
Visitation will be Thursday March 17th, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at Congdon Funeral Home 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, IL 60099. His family invites all who wish to pray the rosary in Bill's memory to join them at Congdon Funeral Home at 4:30 pm prior to the visitation. His funeral service will take place on Friday March 18, 2016 at 10:00 am with a final viewing beginning at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Humility Catholic Church 10655 W Wadsworth rd, Zion, IL 60099. Bill will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Sheridan Cemetery, Fort Sheridan, IL following the service.
