William Edward "Bill" Jackson, 98, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2010, at his home of 94 years in Zion.
Bill was born November 23, 1912, in Grass Lake, IL. He served his country proudly during World War II as a medic in the United States Army. Bill retired from Abbott Labs in 1973. During his lifetime, he loved Three Lakes, WI, spending time in woods, nature, birds, and teaching the generations listed below to love them as well. After retirement, he spent many hours and took much pride, in turning peoples discards into beautiful, useful birdhouses and other decorative objects that are displayed in many nature areas across the country.
Survivors include nephews, Richard (Evelyn) Lindahl, Erick (Mickey) Lindahl, Keith (Karen) Lindahl, Gregory Lindahl; nieces, Kathleen Pilkington and Diane Hensley; great-nieces and great-nephews, Luann (Kevin) Jordan, Cheryl (Dick) Degler, Ronda (John) Anderson, Sandra (Mike) Rowland, Barbara Laitinen, Ronald (Sheryl) Jackson II, Lynette Lindahl, Bryan (Kim) Lindahl, Debbie (Tommy) Evans, Michael Lindahl, Erica (Sean) Gorman, Neil (Kim) Lindahl, Christine (Mark) Ball, Keith Lindahl, William (Marilyn) Simons, Melody (Paul) Moore, Mark Hensley, Scott (Christine) Gasgoine, Matt Gasgoine; and many great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Maxine Hart Jackson; parents, Michael Jackson and Louisa Simons Jac son; siblings, Theodore (Dorothy) Jackson, Alexander (Helen) Jackson, Esther (Norm) Lindahl and Jeannette Lindahl; nephews, Alexander Jackson, John Simons and Ronald Jackson; and nieces, Patsy (Ken) Birdwell and Michelle Gasgoine.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2011, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion, with a Funeral Service at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Karen Brown of Beach Community Church, will officiate.
