William Petree

William Delton Petree, 73,of Zion, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at home. He was born June 21, 1939, to Clifton and Vida Petree of Red Bay, Alabama. He attended Red Bay High School and was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. William moved to Zion, IL, when he was 20, and worked at Anetsberger Brothers in Northbrook, IL for 42 years, retiring in 2001. He was one the first people hired at Anetsberger Brothers and because of his years spent working there he left behind many lifetime friendships to treasure. He also enjoyed travels to Hawaii and Alaska with his wife and good friends. He was a license plate collector and enjoyed attending the license plate conventions. William was a member of Zion Second Baptist Church. He also took pride in growing Trumpet flowers, no one else seemed to be able to grow them like him. William is survived by his wife Sandra; daughters, Linda (Tim) Makinen, Donna (Dan) Losch, and Lamanda (Mark) Phillips; son, Johnny (Debbie) Petree; grandsons, Austin (Rachel) Thrasher, Christopher Petree, Adam, Nick, Matthew, Michael Phillips, and Sam Webb Jr.; granddaughter, Catlin Petree; great grandson, Jack William Thrasher; great granddaughter, Aubry Phillips; sister, Helen Hemenway; nephews, Albert (Jodi) Petree and William Hemenway; niece, Elizabeth (Timothy) Ballew; great nephew, Alex Hemenway; many cousins, wonderful friends, and his best buddy, Patches. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Samuel; and brother, David Melton Petree. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Rd., Zion. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. John Davis, officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations may be made to Star Hospice, 2645 Washington St., Suite 240 Waukegan, IL 60085.
