William G. Reid passed away on Oct. 4th, 2021, at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL. He was predeceased by his loving parents, George and Barbara Reid.
Bill was born on Jan. 4th, 1956. He lived his childhood in Oak Lawn, IL. He attended St. Gerald Elementary School and was a high school graduate of Quigley South Seminary.
After attending college for a year he enlisted in the army and served three years at Fort Sheridan in Highland Park, IL. He and his wife Peggy became homeowners in Zion, Il in 1977 and have resided there ever since.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Peggy (nee Berkery), Reid and their children, William II, ( Jen Vepley): Kelly (Ryan Krueger), Jimmy, Helen , (Tim Gondek), Michael, (Gretchen Gottfried), Megan, (Dan Bednarczyk), and Lorie, (Cody Wynn).
Bill and Peggy have been blessed with fourteen amazing grandchildren, William III, Mikey, Dylan, MacKenzie, Quinn, Kyle, Regan, Kolbe, Dominic, Marie, Abel, Madison, Liam, and Gemma.
Bill was very devoted to his family and his faith. He and Peggy have been active members of Our Lady of Humility Church in Beach Park, IL Bill loved being a Communion minister and bringing the Eucharist to the homebound.
Over the years Bill had many occupations, he was a janitor at Great Lakes Naval hospital for twenty-three years, delivered pizzas and was a part owner of a Dominos at one time.
During the last five years Bill had enjoyed being a Lyft and Uber driver. He loved to talk about his Uber trip to Cincinnati with the foreign exchange students.
In his free time Bill enjoyed traveling, (especially to Disney), collecting coins, watching old reruns on tv, and cooking.
Visitation will be held at Congdon Funeral Home in Zion on Sunday, Oct. 10th from 5 – 8 pm. The funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Humility in Beach Park on Monday Oct. 11th, at 10:00 am. Followed by a procession to Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville where Bill will be laid to rest.
