William E. "Bill" Thomas, 73, of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, died on Monday, February 16, 2009 at Vista Medical Center East in Waukegan.
Bill was born July 1, 1935 in Benton, Illinois. He was a member of Winthrop Harbor United Methodist Church. Bill also belonged to the Waukegan Masonic Lodge #78 A.F. & A.M. and was a proud member of Illinois Harness Horseman's Association. He was a former Police Officer for the Village of Winthrop Harbor and he worked as General Manager of Lyons-Ryan Ford, Reed-Randle Ford, Robinson Chevrolet-Cadillac and Sorenson Chevrolet.
Bill was beloved husband of 52 years to Nancy; loving father of Alan Thomas of Gurnee, Jody (Kevin) Moses of Walhalla, South Carolina and David (Elena) Thomas of Winthrop Harbor; loving grandfather to Jessica and Joshua Moses; dear brother of John Thomas of Phoenix, Arizona; and was a fond uncle and grand-uncle to many.
He was preceded in death by one brother Charles Thomas; four sisters, Juanita Lassiter, June May, Lorraine Ambacher and Judy Thomas; and his parents, Randall Thomas and Lillian Sweetin.
Visitation will be Friday, February 20, 2009 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion, where Masonic Services will be held at 7:30 p.m.. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Dr. Ronald Greene officiating. Entombment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion.
